Alameda Civic Ballet's mission is to create and present community-accessible ballet performances while educating and engaging the community in the performing arts.
Alameda Civic Ballet was founded in 2003 along with its affiliate school Alameda Ballet Academy by Artistic Director Abra Rudisill. Both the school and company were created to impart the best elements of the classical ballet tradition to local dance students and the surrounding community of the East Bay. Alameda Civic Ballet strives to create and present quality community-accessible ballet performances while providing young dancers with valuable experience performing alongside professional dancers.
Alameda Civic Ballet’s full-length Nutcracker is an annual performance offering a production with over 100 performers including dancers who have performed professionally with American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Hawaii, Nevada Dance Theater, Oakland Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Lines Ballet, San Francisco Opera Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, as well as aspiring dance students from Alameda Ballet Academy and other dance schools in the Bay Area.
